Welcome coaches, trainers and mangers to the 2019/2020 season!

Introduction

  1. Please click here to review these important coaching changes & Reminders for 2019/20.
  2. The coaching coordinator in your association is your main source of information. They should be able to tell you exactly what courses to take. If you are curious or are doing your own research, please read these pages.
  3. All coaches regardless of being a Head Coach or an Assistant Coach require the same training  *Exception is U08 only the Head Coach needs to be CSI trained
  4. To register for clinics you must have an NCCP #.  
  5. If you are a head coach or assistant coach you can find out what you need by visiting Ringette Ontario's Coaching Pathways webpage - an easy to use checklist of what you need.  One exists for every level.
  6. Registering for clinics is done on the Ringette Canada website.
  7. Payment for CI and CSI clinics hosted by Eastern Region is completed on this website.
 
Types of Clinics - What do you need?:
  • Coach Initiation in Sport  -For New Ringette Coaches  - If you have never coached ringette you need this online module before you can do any other training .  See "New Coaches" tab to the left for information.
  • Community Sport Initiation (CSI) is a 1 day clinic - for U12 Regional, Novice, Bunnies
  • Competition Introduction (CI) is a 2 day clinic - For U12 and above (Regional & Provincial teams)
    • Note that NEW U12 Regional coaches may take either CSI or CI.  If you are a returing U12 Regional coach who is CSI trained you do not need to take CI until you begin coaching at U14.
  • Making Headway New requirement since 2017 - all coaches & trainers need to complete a concussion awareness course. Designed to help you gain the knowledge and skills required to ensure the safety of your athletes, these NCCP Professional Development modules will make you concussion smart! To start go to http://www.coach.ca/-p153487 and when you go to choose modules, select Making Headway in Sport.
  • Making Ethical Decisions (MED) clinics - is mandatory for all Coaches.  Ringette Ontario has thourough information read it here:  https://ringetteontario.com/the-people/coaches/med-for-coaches/
    • If you have taken MED EVER - any other sport - you are exempt from having to take this.  You still must complete the exam.
    • MED consists of a mandatory evening classroom session (in person or online through CAO - 3.5 hours).  Once that is complete you must complete the online exam at coach.ca
    • You may not challenge and proceed directly to the exam, this will not be recognized by Ringette Canada 
  • Respect in Sport is an online self directed course.  This season, it is mandatory for Trainers, U8 - 12, coaches and any AA coaches heading to Nationals. 
  • CI Certification:  All registered bench staff who are requesting a Competition Introduction (CI) Evaluation to complete CI Certification must follow the revised process outlined at the following link:  https://ringetteontario.com/the-people/coaches/competition-introduction-evaluations/
    • All U14AA, U16AA and U19AA coaches are required to be CI Certified.
  • Competitive Development (CD):  U16AA, U19AA and NRL coaches who intending on proceeding to the CRC (Canadian Ringette Championships) must complete additional Multi Sport Module Training by January 31st each year.  Check the Coaching Pathways on the Ringette Ontario site for details.
