Coach's Information

The following information is of interest to team Coaches and Managers.

Verification of TRF's: The head coach must review the TRF to ensure that all information is accurate prior to signing it. The signed copies must be forwarded to ERRA by the November 2nd Registrar's meeting.

Teams Attending Tournaments Prior to November 2nd (such as Oshawa):  Must arrange for a signed TRF to be received at the ORA office prior to the start of their first tournament game.

Two Team Agreements: Must be approved by both the Membership Services and G&T Coordinators prior to this player being permitted to play on both teams. Prior to submitting the agreement for signature by the coordinators, all information must be completed, including all tournaments the player will participate in (for both teams) with any conflicts resolved.  The deadline for the agreements is November 15th.

Changes to TRF's After Submission to the ORA Office: Any changes to TRF's after they have been submitted to the office must be completed by the association registrar using and Information Change Form (ICF) on the ORA electronic registration system.

Out of Association Players: Must have a release that has been properly signed prior to beginning to play for an out of association team.

Injury Report Forms: injury report forms are to be filled out for any injury to players or bench staff and forwarded directly to the ORA office. A complete injury/incident report must be filed with the ORA office in order to proceed with any claims under the ORA insurance coverage.  Please note the tight deadline (5 days) for filing if insurance coverage is sought.  Injury reports are also used for statistical tracking.

Sport Concussion Assessment Tool 2 (SCAT2): This is available on the ERRA website under the Membership Services section and should be included in the information given to all coaches. This chart, or a similar tool from a recognized source, should ideally be kept in the first aid kit and on the bench for easy reference at all times.

Shoulder Pads: it is mandatory for all players in the U6 to U19 age divisions to wear should pads that were manufactured specifically for the sport of ice hockey and/or ringette without any alterations; and is strongly recommended for those in the 18+ Open age divisions.

Recognition Awards:  ORA has several awards for recognizing outstanding players, coaches and volunteers at all levels.  In recent years, there have been few nominations within our region.  Please consider nominating a worthy individual this season.
